Fill the World
Type every country you can remember and watch the map light up. The classic version gives you 15 minutes for all 195.
How to play
There are no questions, just a world map and a box to type in. A name is accepted the moment it is complete, without pressing Enter, and the country fills in with its continent's colour. Any of the game's seven languages works, and so do common short names such as UK or USA. Bars show how many you have on each continent.
From minute 5 you can tap a continent to see where you are still missing countries. If you give up, the ones you didn't name show in red, and you can go over them with the Practice these button.
Ways to play
Classic: all 195 countries in 15 minutes. Capitals: the same, but typing capitals. Zen: no clock and hints from the start; your progress is saved so you can carry on another day. By continent: only the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia or Oceania, with time in proportion to the number of countries and never less than 3 minutes.
Records
There are no points and no ranking, because this mode is for learning the map. Each way to play keeps the most countries you have ever named in it. In Classic, a ghost also reminds you how many your record had at the same point in the game.
Territories and disputed areas
The map follows the UN's view and there are always 195 countries. Dependent territories light up with the country that runs them, so Greenland fills in with Denmark. Disputed areas such as Western Sahara, Kosovo or Taiwan are not given to anyone: they are hatched, and take on the stripes of the countries that claim them as you name those.
Tips
Go continent by continent and sweep each one from north to south, so the small countries squeezed between big ones don't slip past. The most forgotten are usually the Pacific and Caribbean islands and the small countries of West Africa; if you have time left, check those areas before giving up.
What you learn
Where all 195 countries are, and where the gaps in your own mental map sit. After a few games the list of countries you missed gets shorter, and until then it is a concrete list to study.
