How to play Geolympia
Geolympia has 13+ geography modes: type country names, recognise flags and maps, race the clock and challenge other players online. Here is what each one asks of you.
GeoRadar
Guess the mystery country in 6 attempts.
AFTER EVERY GUESS
• Continent: turns green when it matches the answer — transcontinental countries (Russia, Turkey, Egypt…) count as BOTH of theirs.
• Hemisphere: N or S of the equator.
• Direction: the arrow points from your guess toward the answer.
• Distance: measured in a straight line between the countries' geographic centers, not their capitals — a very large country can look farther than you'd expect. Colored by proximity: green means very close, red means far away.
STRATEGY
Open with countries in different regions to triangulate, then follow the arrows to close in.
Neighbors
Name every country that shares a land border with the one shown.
• Type each neighbor and confirm — any supported language, accents optional.
• The pills show how many borders are still hidden.
• Answer before the timer runs out.
• In the Daily Challenge, finding at least half counts as a win.
TIP
Think by region: rivers and mountain ranges usually mark the neighbors you're missing.
Infinite Borders
Survive as long as you can against a draining clock.
• You start with 30 seconds.
• Correct answers add +4s; mistakes cost −6s.
• Questions mix flags, maps and capitals.
• When the clock reaches zero the run ends and your record is saved.
TIP
A rushed wrong guess is worse than a second of thought — the penalty outweighs the time saved.
Online Survival
Up to 5 players fight to be the last one standing — each with their own 30-second clock.
RULES
• Correct answers give you +3s; mistakes cost −5s.
• Everyone answers the same questions in the same order.
• When your clock hits zero, you are eliminated.
ATTACKS
• Chain 3 correct answers (and then every 5) to launch an attack that steals −5s from the rival with the most time left.
TROPHIES
• In public matches every player stakes 5 trophies per rival: outlast a rival to win his stake, fall early and you lose yours. With 5 players the winner takes +20.
• Private rooms with friends are friendly — no trophies at stake.
1v1 Duel
Face another player in real time over 10 rounds.
HOW IT WORKS
• Both players receive the same questions at the same time.
• Answering correctly — and faster than your rival — scores more points.
• Wildcards (3 per match) remove 2 options in multiple-choice rounds.
TROPHIES
• Win: +10 · Loss: −10 · Abandoning mid-match: −15.
• Trophies count toward the weekly league.
• Private lobbies with friends are friendly: no trophies at stake.
After the match you can request an instant rematch.
Daily Challenge
One challenge per day — the same for every player in the world.
• The type rotates daily: GeoRadar, Euro-Trip, Flag Marathon, Neighbors or World Maps.
• You get a single attempt per day, so make it count.
• Winning extends your daily streak and pays coins (+10 plus a streak bonus).
• The calendar below records your results for the month.
Learn
Learn the whole map, continent by continent.
• Each continent is a unit with a path of short lessons: 4-5 new countries each, mixing flags, capitals and shapes.
• Mistakes come back until you get them right, and older countries reappear for spaced review.
• Review lessons appear along the path to re-drill what you just learned, and a quick error review targets the countries you miss the most.
• The Daily Lesson builds a personalized review of what you learned recently, plus your rustiest countries.
• The final exam is typed, covers EVERY country of the unit and gives you a few lives. Pass it to master the unit.
A few minutes a day here will noticeably raise your streaks in the main modes.
Rankings
Two boards, two races.
• GLOBAL: monthly ranking of every player, powered by trophies won in 1v1 Duels and Online Survival THIS SEASON. Your lifetime trophy total (shown in the header) never resets — only this board does.
• DIVISION: your weekly group of up to 30 players, powered by the XP you earn in ANY mode — even Learn.
• Divisions reset every Monday and the global board every month, back to zero — climb as high as you can before the reset.
